Opener Nathakan Chantham’s half-century helped Thailand pull off a major upset in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 cricket tournament with a four-wicket win over title contenders Pakistan here on Thursday. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat, but their team could only manage 116 runs for five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sidra Amin scored 56 runs for him but the rest of the batsmen could not contribute much.

Chantham scored 61 off 51 balls to register his biggest ever win in Thailand at 117 for six with a ball to spare. Chantham hit five fours and two sixes in his innings. In another match, hosts Bangladesh defeated Malaysia by 88 runs. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 129 for five with half-centuries from Murshida Khatoon (56) and captain Nigar Sultana (53) and then bundled out Malaysia for 41 runs.
