Weather Update : IMD issued alert of heavy rain in West bengal and Odisha, Orange alert issued

Weather Update: The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Odisha and West Bengal. Orange alert has also been issued for some areas of Odisha. The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains across West Bengal till September 14 due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal on Saturday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain and thundershowers in Gangetic West Bengal from Saturday to Monday and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal from September 12 to September 14. The department has forecast very heavy rain in Gangetic West Bengal on September 11 and 12. The department has predicted a wind speed of 45 kmph along the West Bengal-Odisha coast during the next 36 hours. The department has advised fishermen against going out to sea from Saturday to Monday.

Heavy rain likely in Odisha till September 13

Due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Odisha till September 13. This system, active over Northwest Bay of Bengal, off North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coast is expected. The IMD has predicted heavy rains in many districts till September 13 and has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for some places in southern parts on September 10 and 11.

Instructions to officials to be aware of emergencies

According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Center between 8.30 on 10 September and 8.30 am on September 11 at some places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Nayagarh and Cuttack districts. Very heavy rain is expected. . According to the Meteorological Center, similar weather conditions will prevail in the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonpur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda and Ganjam in the next 24 hours from 8.30 on 11 September. The Special Relief Commissioner has ordered all district officials to be prepared for any emergency.
