Uttar Pradesh: Three smugglers have been arrested in Gopiganj police station area of Bhadohi district along with a truckload of English liquor worth around Rs 55 lakh that has been smuggled into Bihar. This was announced by the police on Friday. Apart from this, another smuggler was arrested with country liquor worth more than 75 thousand rupees in Suryawa police station area. Bhadohi Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Anil Kumar said that 607 cases of Imperial Blue Whiskey (5430 liters of English liquor) were found in a search of a truck on Kathota flyover to Gopiganj police station on National Highway-2.
Liquor was taken to Bihar
It was smuggled from Moradabad to Bihar. He said smugglers Malkhan Singh, Amrish Maurya and Gajendra Maurya (all residents of Moradabad) were arrested along with the liquor. The SP said gangster Malkhan Singh has already registered cases of murder, including liquor smuggling. He said the value of the recovered English liquor has been estimated at Rs 55 lakh.
He said that after raiding a shop in Suryawa police station area, a person named Lal Saheb has been arrested after finding 267 liters of illegal country liquor. The SP said the four smugglers would be arrested and sent to jail after completing the legal process.
