The Yogi government is taking swift action against criminals
It was recently reported that the Uttar Pradesh Police has attached and demolished properties worth over Rs 3,190 crore under the provisions of the Gangster Act since 2018. Further, a case under the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) was initiated against the criminals who were declared missing and who refused to surrender to the court.

According to the latest police data, assets worth Rs 864 crore of gangsters have been confiscated in the first 100 days of the second Yogi government. Police and home ministry officials said efforts will continue against the top 20 criminals in each district.

431 criminals arrested in 405 cases
During the second term of the Yogi government, 50 mafia groups have been identified at the state level and 12 at the headquarters level. The official said action has been taken against 62 mafia groups without any discrimination. According to the police file, 431 criminals have been arrested in 405 cases. Two criminals wanted in over two dozen cases have been killed in police encounters, while 20 gangsters have been convicted due to effective surveillance of cases. Awasthi said two criminals were sentenced to death and the NSA action was taken against 65 others.
