Several leaders including Prime Minister Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda condoled the death of comedian Raju Srivastava on Wednesday. Srivastava died on Wednesday at a hospital in Delhi. He was 58 years old and had been hospitalized for more than 40 days. He had suffered a heart attack on August 10 while training at a hotel in Delhi. He was then admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he underwent ‘angioplasty’. Since then he was on life support and never regained consciousness. Prime Minister Modi said Raju Srivastava lit up our lives with laughter, humor and positivity. He left us very soon, but he will live on in the hearts of countless people for many years with his rich work. His death is sad. Condolences to his family and fans. Rajnath Singh in a tweet said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of famous comedian Raju Srivastava. Apart from being an accomplished artist, he was also a very lively person. He was also very active in the social field. My condolences to his bereaved family and fans.”

Shah said that Raju Srivastava had a unique style and impressed everyone with his amazing talent. He said: “His death is a great loss to the art world. My condolences to his family and fans. May God give him strength to bear this grief.” BJP president Nadda said he was speechless after hearing the news of Raju Srivastava’s death.He said, “Raju Srivastava left a distinct mark in the world of comedy. My thoughts are with his family and fans at this hour of grief. May God give the holy soul a place at his feet.” Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur described Srivastava as a great artist and a vivacious human being and said he should become an inspiration to many artists with his art and talent. He said, “Raju Srivastava’s demise is sad. His demise marks the end of the era of a comedy genre, it is not possible to fill the void created by his death. My heartfelt condolences are with the bereaved family and their fans. May God make room for the departed soul at his feet.
