Teachers’ Day 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-Shri) scheme on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Under this, 14,500 schools are to be developed and upgraded throughout the country. The Prime Minister said that PM-Shri will be a modern, transformative and holistic way of imparting education in schools with a special focus on latest technology, smart classrooms, sports and modern infrastructure. The Prime Minister made this announcement by tweeting one after the other. He said, “Today, on Teachers’ Day, I am announcing a new initiative. Under Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-Shri), 14,500 schools across the country will be developed and upgraded. All these will become model schools and will contain the full spirit in the national education policy.
The schools get new technology and modern infrastructure
The Prime Minister said that PM-Shri will be a modern, transformative and holistic way of imparting education in schools with emphasis on research-oriented and learning-oriented approach. He said: “It will also focus on the latest technology, smart classrooms, sports and modern infrastructure.” He expressed hope that PM-Shri School will benefit lakhs of students across the country.
What will be the special things in PM-Shri schools
The implementation of this centrally sponsored scheme will be done by developing the existing schools in the Central Government, State, Union Territory and local bodies. A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said, “PM-Shri schools will reflect all the components of the National Education Policy and will act as model schools and will also mentor other schools nearby.” “The aim of these schools will be not only to provide high quality teaching, learning and cognitive development, but also to produce holistic and well-rounded citizens in line with 21st century skill requirements,” it said.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan praised
Appreciating the initiative, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said it is an important step towards implementing the National Education Policy and making India a vibrant knowledge society. In a tweet, the education minister said: “A laboratory for national education policy, comprising 14,500 exemplary schools with its unique experiential, holistic, inquiry-driven and learner-centred pedagogy to create good individuals with a humanistic outlook who will be best for the 21st century. ” According to the skills, Pradhan said, “PM-Shri School will also provide leadership to other schools in the region to create an environment of learning and improve academic performance.”
