Delhi News: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Delhi on Thursday on her 4-day post cabinet expansion visit. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to discuss various issues, including his state’s Goods and Services Tax (GST). Sources said Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Banerjee met party MPs here and discussed with them the current session of Parliament and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Program to meet the President and Prime Minister on Friday

Sources said Banerjee’s nephew and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was quite vocal during the meeting and suggested what issues the MPs should raise in the final days of the monsoon session of Parliament. Both categorically told party MPs not to ‘fear’ the BJP. Banerjee is scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Sources said that in the meeting with Modi, he is likely to discuss the GST charges in West Bengal.

Attending NITI Aayog meeting on 7th August

According to sources, the Chief Minister of West Bengal will attend the meeting of NITI Aayog on August 7. He said a meeting of non-Congress opposition leaders like DMK, TRS and AAP will also be held on Saturday. Along with Trinamool’s warmth towards Congress in Parliament, Banerjee is also likely to meet Sonia Gandhi, the president of the oldest party (Congress).

Meanwhile, Trinamool MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay said, “We met (Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister) Giriraj Singh and he had promised to resolve the MGNREGA issue within 48 hours. More than a month has passed and I have received only a counter letter which I have given to Mamata Banerjee.

Sources indicated that Banerjee is unlikely to address the media as former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee has come under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate in the money-for-jobs scam in the state. Prime Minister Modi will chair the board meeting of NITI Aayog on August 7, where issues related to agriculture, health and economy will be discussed.
