  • Our state’s eligible revenue subsidy has been slashed: CM Pinarayi
  • “An attempt to impose a strange form of “economic pressure” on the state

Kerala News: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government is “weakening” the state economically. At the same time, he tries to destroy him by blocking the way for his development. He also accused the Center of trying to curtail the state’s limited powers. He said they were trying to impose a strange kind of “economic pressure” on the state with the aim of destroying it.

The central government ‘grabs’ the powers of the state

The Chief Minister was speaking about the inaugural program of the State Conference of the PSC Employees’ Union. He alleged that the central government was continuing its efforts to violate the federal principles prevailing in the country. He said: “The eligible revenue subsidy from our state has been cut and efforts are being made to reduce its debt limit. Efforts are being made to push our state into a deep crisis.” Claiming that the central government was “grabbing” the powers of the state, the Marxist leader said it has become a cause of “destruction” for the country.

“Everything We Can Do and You Can’t”

The Chief Minister said the Centre’s stand is like this: “We can do everything and you can’t.” He said the Center is trying to take over the cooperative sector. He said that by keeping one million posts vacant, the central government is trying to destroy the employment sector in the country. Vijayan also warned against alleged attempts to undermine the country’s constitutional institutions and create division among the people.

The chief minister’s attack on the Center comes weeks after the ED issued a notice to former state finance minister TM Thomas Isaac in connection with its probe into alleged violations of KIIFB’s financial transactions. KIIFB is the state government’s primary agency for financing critical infrastructure projects.
