On August 17, Fernandez was charged in the ED’s supplementary chargesheet in the Chandrashekhar case. The ED alleged in its charge sheet that the actress received jewelery worth Rs 7 crore, several luxurious cars and fashion accessories from Chandrashekhar, knowing that they were from proceeds of crime.
In a statement to the ED, Fernandez denied any information about Chandrasekhar’s criminal history and said he was outed as the owner of Sun TV, belonging to an influential political family in Tamil Nadu. Chandrashekhar is currently in jail for allegedly defrauding various high-net-worth individuals, including Aditi Singh, wife of Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh, to a large extent.
