Captain Rohit Sharma scored 64 runs in 44 balls with the help of 7 fours and two sixes. At the same time Dinesh Karthik played a terrific innings in the last few overs and scored 41 runs in 19 balls. Dinesh Karthik was also named man of the match. Dinesh Karthik shared an unbroken 52-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Ravichandran Ashwin to put India in a good position.

In this match, India’s captain Rohit Sharma became the highest run scorer in T20 Internationals. Previously this record was in the name of Martin Guptill from New Zealand. There was a 21-run decision between Rohit Sharma and Martin Guptill. Rohit Sharma has played an innings of 67 runs. Talking about the West Indies, the batsmen there did not perform much. Chasing the target of 190 runs, the West Indian team could only score 122 runs for eight wickets. Indian bowlers have done well. Ashwin had Pooran caught by Pant in the eighth over, while Ravi Bishnoi bowled Powell, sending half the West Indies team to the pavilion in the 12th over. Ashwin ruined West Indies’ chances of a win by dismissing the returning Shimron Hetmyer (14), while Bishnoi almost secured India’s win by stumping Odin Smith without opening the account. After this, the West Indies batsmen completed the formality of playing the entire over. This is the first T20 International at this ground where the Indian team again took the field with a new opening pair. Rohit surprised everyone by opening the innings with Suryakumar Yadav (24). Both gave the team a good start by adding 44 runs in the first 4.4 overs. Suryakumar Yadav opened the account by hitting a four off Obed McCoy in the opening over, while Rohit welcomed Holder for a six in the second over. In the third over, on spinner Akil Hossain’s very first ball, Myers dropped Suryakumar’s catch. Suryakumar then hit a six and a four in debutant Alzarri Josephs over but was caught by Hossain to Holder.
