Amitabh Choudhary, former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and former president of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 62 years old. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed deep grief over Chaudhary’s demise.

Amitabh Choudhary, former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and former president of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday. He was 62 years old. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed deep grief over Chaudhary’s demise. Dr. Varun Kumar, a doctor at Santevita Hospital, Ranchi, said that Amitabh Chaudhary, former chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission, was brought to the emergency room around 8:15 am after suffering a heart attack, where the team of doctors completed his rescue. Tried but he could not be saved and he died about nine o’clock.

His health took a bit of a turn for the worse after the Independence Day flag hoisting on Monday. But he rested at his residence in Ashok Nagar. Devashish Chakraborty, a close aide of Chaudhary and secretary of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association, told PTI that Chaudhary suffered a heart attack in the morning at his Ashok Nagar residence after which he was rushed to Santevita Hospital. Born on 6 July 1960, Choudhary was a senior officer in the Indian Police Service in the Jharkhand cadre.

Chaudhary’s contribution to transforming cricket in Jharkhand is considered unparalleled. It was due to his efforts that the Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Cricket Ground was built in Ranchi. In his condolence message, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, “Received the sad news of the sudden demise of former chairman of Jharkhand Public Service Commission Amitabh Choudhary ji. Former IPS officer Amitabh was also instrumental in boosting the game of cricket in the state. May God grant peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
