Bristol: England batsman Jonny Bairstow has found it costly to carry his teammate Sam Karen on his shoulder as he has been injured and is a doubt for his debut in the T20I series against South Africa. Bairstow had to leave the training session midway through. Bandages were tied on his left knee. He had trouble walking but till now no decision has been taken to play in his first T20 match.

England and South Africa will play two matches in a row and in such a situation Verito may be out of the first match. If that happens, Phil Salt and Harry Brooke will remain in the midfield. Both these players played against India. Bairstow was then rested.
