Two elderly clerics riding a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a speeding truck in Khudadadpur village of Nizamabad area of Azamgarh district on Thursday evening. Police sources said here that Islamic scholar Maulana Faiz Islahi (60), a resident of Israuli village under Saraymir police station area, had gone to attend a party organized in Mohammadpur area along with his friend Maulana Khurshid, 65.
While they were returning home around 6:30 p.m., both men had reached the cemetery in Khudadadpur village when a truck heading towards Saraimir ran over them from behind. He died on the spot. Maulana Khurshid was the district president of Jamaat Islami in Thane district of Maharashtra along with his business in Mumbai and he had come to his home a few days ago.
Hundreds of people gathered at the site
After getting information about the accident, hundreds of people in the area reached the spot. The police tried to take both the dead bodies and send them for post-mortem but people stopped them. The police are trying to pacify the mourners.
There was also a terrible traffic accident in Bulandshahr
Earlier this month, a horrific road accident took place in Bulandshahr district of UP itself. An auto-rickshaw collided with a tractor in Bulandshahr, killing two people. The incident took place in Chhatari police station area of the district. Additional Superintendent of Police (Land) Bajrang Bali Chaurasia said there was a collision between an autorickshaw and a tractor on Chhatari-Pahasu road in Chhatari police station area of the district. He said a man and a girl traveling in the autorickshaw were seriously injured in the accident. Who was taken to Aligarh Medical College for treatment where he died.
