According to sources, the federal probe agency is expected to file a supplementary chargesheet or prosecution complaint on Wednesday in the Special Court of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Delhi, where the actress has been charged. The 37-year-old actress has been questioned several times by the agency in this case and was last questioned in June.

Fernandez, a Sri Lankan national, started his career in the Hindi film industry in 2009. The ED had in April provisionally attached his funds worth Rs 7.27 crore and seized Rs 15 lakh in cash under the PMLA. The ED had then said in a statement, “Sukesh Chandrashekhar had given various gifts worth Rs 5.71 crore to Jacqueline Fernandez out of the proceeds of criminal activities including extortion. Chandrashekhar had been his companion for a long time and had given these gifts to the actress through co-accused Pinky Irani.A sum of US$1,72,913 (approx Rs 1.3 crore) and Australian $26,740 (approx Rs 14 lakh) was also given to the close relatives of Fernandez through Singh Kochhar.Kochhar is known as an international hawala operator.

The ED alleged that Chandrashekhar used illegal money to buy gifts for Fernandez, which he had fraudulently collected from high-profile individuals, including Aditi Singh, wife of Shivinder Mohan Singh, a former Fortis Healthcare promoter. Fernandez, in his statement from August and October last year to the ED, told the ED that he received Gucci from Chandrasekhar, three designer handbags from Chanel, two pairs of Gucci gym wear, a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and many more A bracelet with colored stones and two Hermes bracelet-like gifts were found. The actress had told that she had returned a ‘Mini Cooper’ car she got from Chandrashekhar. The agency, in its investigation, found that Chandrashekhar was in “regular contact” with Fernandez from February last year until he was arrested by the Delhi Police on August 7. The ED has so far arrested eight people including Chandrashekhar, his wife Leena Maria Paul and Pinky Irani in this case and has also filed two chargesheets in a Delhi court.
