Bristol. The Indian women’s team suffered a crushing seven-wicket defeat in the third and final T20 international against England here on Thursday due to the failure of the top batsmen. England thus won the three-match series 2-1. They had registered a win by nine wickets in the first T20I while India made a good comeback after winning the second match by eight wickets. But the Indian batsmen failed to sustain the momentum in the third and deciding match and India could only manage 122 for eight when they were invited to bat first.

If the Indian team could reach the 100-run mark, credit goes to wicket-keeper batsman Richa Ghosh, who scored 33 runs in 22 balls with the help of five fours. Besides Richa, only Deepti Sharma (24) and Pooja Vastrakar (19 not out) reached double figures. For England, Sophie Ecclestone took three wickets for 25 runs, while Sarah Glenn took two wickets for 11 runs in three overs. In front of a small target, Sophia Dunkley (49 off 44 balls) and Danny White (22) gave England a good start by adding 70 runs for the first wicket. After this, Alice Capsi (38 not out from 24 balls) and Bryony Smith (13 not out) took England to the target with 10 balls to spare. For India, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav took a wicket each.
