Bihar Politics: Nitish Kumar has called the first cabinet meeting on Wednesday after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the eighth time. In a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, Nitish Kumar passed a resolution to call a special session of the Assembly on August 24 and the Legislative Council on August 25 to prove his majority. Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan has been informed about the proposal and his approval is awaited. The leaders of the Grand Alliance also moved a no-confidence motion against BJP president Vijay Kumar Sinha. As he only has the support of 77 MPs from his own party, it is highly likely that he will resign from the post before the decision. RJD’s Awadh Bihari Chaudhary is the front runner in the race for the post. On August 25, the Legislative Council will also elect a new chairman.
