Tamim Iqbal has posted a post on Facebook where he has written that I should be considered retired from T20 International cricket from today. Thank you all. Tamim last played a T20I in March 2020 when he scored 41 of 33 balls against Zimbabwe.

Captain Tamim Iqbal has announced his retirement from the T20I format following Bangladesh’s 3-0 victory over the Caribbean in the ODI series. Bangladesh beat the West Indies by four wickets in the third and final ODI on Saturday, and Tamim was named the series player. Tamim Iqbal has posted a post on Facebook where he has written that I should be considered retired from T20 International cricket from today. Thank you all.

Earlier in January, Tamim had announced that he would take a six-month break from playing in the shortest format. Tamim had said that “my whole focus will be on tests and ODIs. We look forward to qualifying for the World Test Championship and World Cup in 2023.” I will not think about T20Is for the next six months. I hope the players will do so well, Tamim had said the team will not need me in the T20s. But if God forbid it If the team or cricket board need me and I’m ready, then I will think about it.

Tamim last played a T20I in March 2020 when he scored 41 of 33 balls against Zimbabwe. Tamim was a regular in the Bangladesh T20I squad from 2007 to 2018 and played 75 out of 84 possible matches for the team. He is the only batsman to have scored a century for Bangladesh and became the third highest running scorer with 1701 runs with an average of 24.65.
