Mumbai Businessman Raj Kundra filed an application in a magistrate court here urging him to be acquitted in an app case related to pornographic material. Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was arrested in this case in July 2021. He is currently out on bail. On July 20, Kundra’s lawyer Prashant Patil had filed a petition seeking acquittal of his client. Its details became available on Wednesday. The application said police found no evidence that Kundra made any money or other profit from the alleged offence.

The court has asked the prosecution to file its reply on September 8. A woman approached the police and made some allegations against Kundra, following which an FIR was lodged against her and others. The case was transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch. A case was registered against Kundra under sections 420, 292 and 293 of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
