Port of Spain| Shubman Gill may have missed out on his first international century but he is happy that he managed to convert his good starts into big scores which he could not achieve in the first two ODIs.

Gill was dismissed for 64 and 43 in the first two matches of the ODI series against the West Indies and expressed his disappointment at the manner in which he was dismissed.

Gill, who remained unbeaten on 98 in the rain-hit third match, said: “I was disappointed with the way I came out in the first two matches. In the last match I tried to rotate the strike. I only needed one over before the last interruption of the rain.

Gill, who scored the highest score of his career, said that if he had got one more over, he would have completed a century for sure.

Gill said after the match: “I was hoping to get a century but the rain came and these things were not in my hands. I am very happy with my innings though. The wicket was very good in all three matches.
