Captain Shikhar Dhawan and his opening partner Shubman Gill scored half-centuries as India scored 115 for one in 24 overs in the third and final ODI against the West Indies until rain halted play here on Wednesday. Dhawan and Shubman shared a 113-run partnership for the first wicket, which is the second century partnership between the two of them in the series.

Dhawan, who scored 97 runs in the first match, returned to the pavilion after scoring 58 runs in 74 balls. Dhawan hit seven fours in his innings. He returned to the pavilion by giving West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran a simple catch at mid-wicket on Hayden Walsh’s googly. When play was stopped, Gill was on the field having scored 51 off 65 balls. He has hit three fours and one six in his innings.

Dhawan opened the account with a four off Jason Holder while Gill opened his innings with a four off Jaden Seals. Both openers showed caution at the start. Dhawan hit four boundaries off Seals and Keemo Paul and then completed the half-century of the team’s runs in the 12th over with two fours off Holder.

Gill hit the first six of the innings off Hayden Walsh while Dhawan also hit the spinner for a four. He completed his half-century in 62 balls with two runs from Paul. India’s century of runs was completed in the 20th over. Gill also completed his half-century in 60 balls with a run off Seals. But Dhawan, trying to play a big shot from Walsh, waved the ball in the air and Pooran made no mistake as he took the catch at mid-wicket. Dhawan also became the 22nd batsman in the world to complete 1000 runs against the West Indies during this innings.
