Stand-up comedian Munawwar Farooqui’s show, which was scheduled to take place in Delhi on August 28, has now been canceled by the Delhi Police. The reason for the cancellation of the show is that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had threatened to protest against the show. The VHP had opposed Munawwar Farooqui’s show, saying that under the guise of their comedy, comedians make fun of Hindu gods and goddesses. Even before this, Munawwar Farooqui has made controversial comments about Hinduism in his show. Angered by the old remarks, Hindu organizations had demanded the cancellation of his sleepover in Delhi.
