A senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Rahul Dravid’s test for Kovid-19 has been found positive and he is currently in isolation. We are still confident that he will soon recover and join the team after that.”

New Delhi: Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be able to travel to Dubai with the Rohit Sharma-led team for the Asia Cup starting on August 27. India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening game of the Asia Cup on August 28. A senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Rahul Dravid’s test for Kovid-19 has been found positive and he is currently in isolation. We are still confident that he will soon recover and join the team after that.”

For now, assistant coach Paras Mhambrey will be in charge of the team, but the decision to send National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman to Dubai with the team will be taken at a later date. “We will make a decision whether VVS will go directly to Dubai from Harare or not. A decision will be made on this now and if necessary he will join the team. Until then Paras Mhambrey will be in charge . The rest of the team members are fit and left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this morning.” All three were part of the team that toured Zimbabwe.
