Jammu and Kashmir: A car has fallen victim to an accident in Doda district on Tuesday. According to the information received, this car skidded off the road and fell into the Chenab river, in which at least 4 people are feared drowned. In this case, the statement of the Sub-Collector (Thathiri) Athar Amin Zargar has come to the fore. He said the accident took place at Shibnot-Karara on Batote-Kishtwar National Highway around 7.30 pm.
According to the official, the car was on its way from Doda to Kishtwar when it suddenly fell into the flowing river. A police team along with local volunteers and rafts of JK Adventures stationed near the site of the incident in Shibnot, launched a rescue operation, but the vehicle and its four occupants have not been found, the sub-collector said.
Ghulam Nabi Azad was seen at the spot
Former chief minister and Democratic Azad Party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is visiting Doda and Kishtwar districts, was seen at the scene of the accident in a video shared from the area. He was accompanied by his colleague and former minister GM Saroori, who can be heard in the video appealing to speed up the rescue operation. Officials said Azad returned after addressing public meetings in Changa-Bhalesa and Gali-Batoli in Doda district.
