Indian Army: Two infiltrating terrorists were gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday. A defense ministry spokesman said in a statement: “Based on specific intelligence inputs received from the police and other intelligence agencies about a possible infiltration attempt in Machal sector of Kupwara district, the jawans were put on high alert and are at risk of infiltration.” There were joint ambushes by Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army on the routes.”
Killed two infiltrating terrorists
According to the statement, around 7.30 am in the prevailing bad weather conditions, alert troops saw two armed infiltrators crossing the LoC near Tekri Nar, Machal. This was followed by an exchange of fire which resulted in the killing of both the terrorists. The weapons and other items recovered from the slain terrorists included two AK-47 rifles, six AK magazines, 53 AK cartridges, four hand grenades, two pistols, 35 pistols, Pakistani currency and food items.
Two terrorists were killed on 14 September
On September 14, security forces had killed two terrorists in an encounter. The slain terrorists were associated with Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Jammu and Kashmir Police said both these terrorists were involved in attacking a laborer from West Bengal on September 2. While identifying these terrorists, the ADGP of Kashmir said that one terrorist was Aijaz Rasool Nazar, a resident of Pulwama and the other Shahid Ahmed alias Abu Hamza.
