The West Indies team, which came out to play a two-test series with Australia, has managed to draw the practice match. The first test match will be played between the two countries on November 30. The second day-night Test starts in Adelaide from December 8.

Canberra. In preparation for their two-Test tour of Australia, West Indies played a three-day warm-up match against New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory Combined XI here on Saturday. The Caribbean team had scored 114 runs for four wickets in the second innings at Manuka Oval, after which the match was called off. The home side had earlier declared at 426 for four. Opener Tejnarine Chanderpaul, son of West Indian great Shivnarine Chanderpaul, scored just four runs while not batting in the team’s first nine-wicket total of 424 declared. Jermaine Blackwood, a veteran of 48 Tests, scored 42 runs in the first innings before retiring but managed just one run in the second innings.

West Indies’ score was 77 for four, after which Roston Chase (31 not out) and Joshua da Silva (12 not out) did not allow a wicket to fall. Blake McDonald scored an unbeaten 177 against the West Indies bowlers on Friday, while number three batsman Oliver Davies scored 115 off just 106 balls.

The visiting team will play the first Test against Australia from November 30 in Perth and the second day-night Test in Adelaide starting on December 8. The team will now play a four-day day-night practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI from next Wednesday.
