As far as the introduction of Jagdeep Dhankhad is concerned, let us tell you that Dhankhad is originally from Shekhawati area of Rajasthan. Jagdeep Dhankhar, 71, has been a prominent lawyer before his current role as Governor of West Bengal. Before joining the BJP, Dhankhar, who was in the Janata Dal and the Congress, practiced in the Rajasthan High Court and then the Supreme Court. He was instrumental in getting the Jat community an Other Backward Class (OBC) status in Rajasthan. Jagdeep Dhankhard’s nomination is considered to be very important in view of next year’s assembly elections in Rajasthan. Jagdeep Dhankhar was also a minister in the short-lived Chandrasekhar government. In the year 2019, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came back to power, he was made the Governor of West Bengal. His relationship with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was strained when he was the Governor of West Bengal, as Dhankhar repeatedly raised the issue of law and order, which led to a backlash from the state government.

With Jagdeep Dhankhar being elected as the Vice President, he has become the second leader from Rajasthan to hold this important constitutional post. Before Jagdeep Dhankhar, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the person who was the Vice President of the country. The special thing is that late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Jagdeep Dhankhar belong to the same region i.e. Shekhawati. Dhankhar’s election to the post of Vice President also coincided with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Speaker of the Rajya Sabha being from the same state. It may be noted that Om Birla is currently the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and represents the Kota Parliamentary Constituency of Rajasthan.
It may be mentioned that Mrs. Draupadi Murmu won as the NDA candidate in the presidential election held last month. Thus, after the victory in the presidential and vice-presidential elections, while the NDA’s confidence about the upcoming elections has increased, the opposition is disappointed. The way the opposition was scattered, especially in the presidential and vice-presidential elections, shows that the strategy of the ruling coalition is succeeding.
