Filmmaker Om Raut on Monday announced that the release of his upcoming film “Adipurush” has been postponed to June 16, 2023 as the film’s team needs more time to give audiences “a complete visual experience”. This news comes almost a month after the first teaser of this big budget film was released. After the teaser of the film was released, there was a lot of criticism on social media for the quality of its visual effects and the way it portrays Hindu deities.
‘Baahubali’ actor Prabhas plays the role of Lord Ram in the film. The film was earlier slated to release on January 12, 2023. In a statement on Twitter, Raut said, “‘Adipurush’ is not just a film but it is a testament to our faith in Lord Shri Ram and our commitment to our culture and civilization .” Our team working on the film needs more time to provide an immersive visual effects experience. ‘Adipurush’ is now releasing on June 16, 2023.

‘Adipurush’ is Raut’s upcoming film after the 2020 blockbuster ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’. ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ recently won the National Award for Best Popular Film. The multi-lingual film stars Saif Ali Khan as the 10-headed demon king Ravana, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and Sunny Singh as Laxman. Aadipurush is being produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, Raut, Prasad Sutar and Rajesh Nair of Retrofiles.
