The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the schedule of practice matches for the 16 teams participating in the prestigious tournament.

The historic Melbourne Cricket Ground will host practice matches for the teams participating in the first round from October 10 to 13, while practice matches for teams playing in the Super 12 stage at Brisbane’s Gabba and Allan Border Fields will be played from 17 to 19 October. In the first warm-up match, the 2012 and 2016 champions West Indies will face the United Arab Emirates at the Junction Oval on 10 October. Each team playing in the first round can play two practice matches.

2009 champions Pakistan and 2010 champions England will face each other at the Gabba on October 18. The T20 World Cup 2014 champions Sri Lanka will play their two warm-up matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 10 and 13. The ICC has said that spectators will not be allowed into the stadium for practice matches. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup begins with the match between Sri Lanka and Namibia on October 16 at the Cardinia Park Stadium in Geelong.
