Punjab News: A day after explosives were found under a police constable’s vehicle in Amritsar, the Punjab Police on Wednesday said two accused of planting explosives in the vehicle were arrested from Delhi. Both the arrested are residents of Patti area in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, a police official said. The IED, which was planted under the vehicle of Sub-Inspector (SI) Dilbag Singh, was recovered in the Ranjit Avenue area on Tuesday. The worker who cleaned the car had informed after seeing it. Police were told from a CCTV footage that two unidentified people who came on a motorcycle had kept the explosive material under the vehicle.

The accused had planted a 2.70 kg RDX bomb

Additional Director General of Police (Internal Security) RN Dhoke visited the site in Amritsar on Wednesday and said the suspects would be nabbed soon. Talking to reporters, Dhoke said the explosive weighed around 2.70 kg with RDX and a timer fitted. A mobile phone has also been recovered from the spot, he said. The officer said the police are also probing it from a terror angle. Senior officials are following the case closely. Dhoke said: “Dilbag Singh is a very capable officer and has done a wonderful job in the past. We will increase their security.” He said that it is currently difficult to say where this IED came from. He also said, “But the kind of IEDs that have been found in Punjab so far, they all came from Pakistan.”
