New Delhi: Union Home Minister and senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah (Amit Shah) held a meeting with the members of the core group of the party from Jammu and Kashmir here on Friday. Sources said the issues related to the organization and the political situation in the Union Territory were discussed in the meeting. Besides J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina and Union Minister Jitendra Singh, other leaders including Devendra Singh Rana, MPs Jugal Kishor and Shakti Raj Parihar attended the meeting. BJP general secretary in-charge of union territory party affairs Tarun Chugh and co-in-charge Ashish Sood also attended the meeting.

The BJP rally took place on a day when senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad quit the party. He hails from Jammu and Kashmir. However, BJP sources said the meeting was planned in advance. BJP leaders said issues like political situation and party organization were discussed after the delimitation exercise in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also held a meeting with Shah on Friday. There is a discussion that assembly elections may be held after the completion of the electoral roll revision exercise released in the Union Territory. However, sources have ruled out the possibility of elections this year.

Azad sends 5-page resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi

It is noteworthy that Ghulam Nabi Azad today sent a 5-page resignation letter to Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi. Ghulam Nabi Azad, in his resignation letter, accused Rahul Gandhi of destroying the party, alleging that he would elect for the post of president a person who would just remain a puppet and take all the behind-the-scenes decisions on his own. Azad alleged that G-23 leaders, who demanded reforms in the party in 2020, were abused, humiliated and vilified at the Congress Working Committee meeting.

In his resignation letter, he said, “Unfortunately, the situation in the Congress Party has become such that now proxy is being used to take over the leadership of the party.” This experiment will surely fail. The party is so ruined that the situation has gotten out of control. Besides, the ‘president-elect’ would be nothing more than a puppet. He said the Congress has given way to the BJP at the national level and regional parties at the state level.
